David's choral background stems from his involvement from an early age with (or, more realistically, his birth into) the Toowoomba Choral Society. Since moving to Brisbane, David has performed with all of the city's major choirs.
As well as being Musical Director of the Bach Society of Queensland, a position he has held since the beginning of 2014, David is also Director of Music at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Fortitude Valley, and Conductor of the Senior Choir of the Blackstone-Ipswich Cambrian Choir.
He recently finished as temporary Conductor of the Australian Catholic University Banyo Campus Choir, and in 2015 he departed from his role as Musical Director of the Queensland University Musical Society after a tenure of nearly ten years.
He has served as Assistant Chorus Master at Australian Intervarsity Choral Festivals in Hobart, Perth, Melbourne, Adelaide and in Brisbane.
In late 2014, David was awarded the Seventh National Sydney Symposium Choral Conducting Scholarship, which saw him spend two months of 2015 in the United Kingdom, observing and working with a wide range of the best conductors and choirs in both London and Cambridge, while also singing with the London Symphony Chorus.
Closer to home, he has participated in conducting workshops with the Sydney Chamber Choir and Symphony Australia.
In addition to his conducting, David continues to sing in Canticum Chamber Choir, Brisbane Chorale, and Fusion Chamber Choir, sang in the St John's Cathedral Choir for ten years, and has been a guest singer with the Adelaide Chamber Singers and the cathedral choirs of St Paul's, Melbourne, and St Peter's, Adelaide.
